Part 3 has a slightly different feel from the earlier sections because Audrey Ashes spends so much of the runtime simply existing inside the situation rather than reacting to something new every minute. Futilestruggles has always been oddly comfortable with that kind of pacing — long stretches where nothing dramatic happens and yet the atmosphere keeps getting heavier anyway. Audrey is left alone more than once, and those gaps ended up sticking with me. Maybe it’s just me, but isolation often feels more uncomfortable than whatever came before it.
What I kept noticing was how each return seemed to remove a little more freedom of movement. Not in some huge dramatic escalation — more like a series of small decisions that gradually add up. Audrey Ashes starts looking increasingly careful about how she shifts her weight, how she holds her shoulders, even how she settles back into the chair. The restraint work feels cumulative. That’s probably the best word for it. Every adjustment seems minor on its own, yet after a while the overall posture starts looking noticeably less natural. At one point I found myself paying more attention to the chair than the actual ties, which sounds ridiculous now that I write it out, but the whole setup begins to feel built around keeping her exactly where she is.
The 2024 production quality remains clean without becoming distracting. At 1280×720 the image captures enough detail to make the rope placement and changing posture easy to follow, while the 18-minute runtime gives the session room to settle into a slow rhythm. Futilestruggles often seems most interested in endurance rather than spectacle, and that comes through here. By the end Audrey Ashes doesn’t look dramatically different from where she started — just a little more tired, a little more constrained, and considerably more aware that comfort stopped being part of the equation quite a while ago.
